The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), is a trade association that leads the effort to advance medical technology in order to achieve healthier lives and healthier economies around the world. AdvaMed represents 80 percent of medical technology firms in the United States and acts as the common voice for companies producing medical devices, diagnostic products, and health information systems.

This year, AdvaMed is celebrating its 40th anniversary. AdvaMed began operations in 1975 with just 154 members and 14 employees. Four decades later, AdvaMed’s membership has reached nearly 300 members and more than 80 employees with a global presence in countries including Europe, India, China, Brazil, and Japan.

AdvaMed members produce nearly 90 percent of the health care technology purchased annually in the United States and more than 40 percent purchased annually around the world. AdvaMed’s member companies range from the largest to the smallest medical technology innovators and companies.

Mission and goals

Our mission is to encourage advancement and innovations and make them more available to medical technology companies in the United States and around the world. AdvaMed promotes and helps to shape policies, directly and indirectly communicating with politicians and different decision-making centers. All of which benefits the medical technology companies in maintaining sustainable growth and to add value to the medical technology, with the focus on innovative improvements to the industry, communication, meeting stakeholder expectations and industry events and training.

Our goal is to create a safe and academic environment in which we promote technological growth in relation to the industrial, user-friendly and personal usage of the latest, modern innovations. We are doing this through various platforms, programs, conferences, and applications. AdvaMed is not only looking to make an impact and improvements globally but also to make difference on state and local level.

We are entrusted with the authority of the profession that shapes the lives of every citizen. Cooperation with organizations, institutions and government agencies that can rely on our expertise, competence, and assessment of medical technology standards, programs, and practices, as well as our commitment to the advancement of technology in medicine, is invaluable for the necessary improvements in the healthcare system. We have created a unique forum which has not yet been achieved in the activities of other organizations.
